Pouring a small measure of brandy, he lights a cigarette and stares at the keyboard for twenty minutes. There’s no such thing as writer's block. He’d read it somewhere or heard it at a writing group. Another small measure, another cigarette, another twenty minutes pass.
Eventually, after several shots and countless cigarettes, the words flow, and brain to keyboard connect. He closes the laptop with a feeling of accomplishment.
The following day, void of the many small measures, he reads his work, then sinks in despair. Pressing delete, he stares at the keyboard. Twenty long minutes pass. He pours himself a small measure and lights a cigarette.

It's not always like that ... sometimes he actually flows.

I guess where I start is telling you a little about me, what I do, what I like, without boring you hopefully. I'm a writer and have been for several years. I'm also an avid reader and my preferences travel across many genres.
I got into writing when I went through a bad patch in life. It started with dark poetry, very badly written poetry. Actually, it was awful, but it gave me the bug to write and write I did.

Several years on I have a Master's degree in creative writing, a short story in The National Academy of Writing's anthology, several short stories in other anthologies, and my second novel titled, Running Through Still Waters, is on Amazon. As for my first novel, it's hidden under the bed.

There's a particular character in Running Through Still Waters who has his own story to tell. His name is Ben, and like Sam the thirteen-year-old protagonist in the novel, he suffers social deprivation and unimaginable scenarios no child or young person should ever experience. I'm currently working on his story and plan to complete it by early next year.
